Our goals for 2009 through 2012
We hope to be able to:
- Complete our New Hope Secondary school: we need to start foundation, and put up the ceiling, install electricity and paint the whole structure
- Equip the school: we lack textbooks both at primary and secondary levels.
- Hire additional teachers: so far, all our primary school teachers† teach two or even three different subjects.
-
Build a library/study room/computer room: we have turned two rooms into a small library/study room, to encourage the children to read. A proper library will dramatically improve the students’ focus and performances. They will stay after classes to do their homework. And they will take computer lessons.
- Build an Orphanage home and center: to house orphans, where they are fed, sleep and receive medical attentions
our goal is to gather a team of volunteers and experts, both internationally and in Africa, who will prepare get EAGLE and TIME as a subject” curriculum for both primary and secondary schools. We will start teaching the subject at the New Hope schools, and then train teachers throughout Southern Sudan and Africa
During those years, we will run health project Initiative to address health issues. One way to actively spread the word out is to control and prevent THAM: TB, HIV/AIDS and Malaria
Curriculum will include HIV/AIDS or sexual transmitted diseases so that all aspects of THAM are systematically taught in schools. Some of our students have lost their parents because of AIDS and most of them lost their parents because of TB and Malaria: they deserve to fully understand these diseases and their implications in order to cope with the devastation it has created in their lives, and first and foremost to avoid getting widespread and infected themselves.
