Be an Advocate for Aid & Care

One of the best ways you can support the needs of millions of children is by advocating on their behalf. You car write a letter to your community, churches, senator, elect president, or congress. Don't you know that you can make difference when you travel around the world? Would you like to become an Ambassador or Advocate?

One person can make difference in others. During summer this year, Michelle Jones, a science major student at the University of Houston in Texas visited Aweil, Southern Sudan where she saw a young boy walking on the streets. Michelle stopped the boy and started helping him by giving him some cookies. Because there many children on the streets like the boy she saw who  later identified his name Majok, she put sticker on his arm so that she would identify him later.

Just read her own words:

“I was almost shocked when I saw Majok walking alone”. She said. “ I felt so bad when he  came and stood in front of me naked .I was so embarrased while I was putting a sticker on his arm to identify him later. This is a terrible thing to see children suffer like this. Not only just they have no clothes to wear but the worrries are what they eat. I couldn’t imagine to see that. We, Americans,  believe such a thing when we see them ourselves. Instead we  believe in such situation when those we know them better are telling us.  I wouldn’t even believe it myself if I did not eye witness that situation. I was really socked and I’ve got to do something for them. There are number of thousands children like Majok wondering and sleep on the streets in and around Aweil town with food. They really need help.

I wish everyone in the United States could have seen when I saw there in Aweil. It was great opportunity to go to Southern Sudan and learned such incredible experience. I appreciated Mr. Abraham Anei for leading us to Africa and came back safe. I hope to return there again soon. But I hope to do something for children I met and had opportunity to talk with them. I also promised them at least to buy them some food and clothes when I return may next year.

The question I really ask myself is what now, what are they going to eat and wear? Although I was going on my research program sponsored by my college, I would like to work with Aid and Care so that I can fulfill my promise to the children I met. I hope Aid and Care is at least will do something for Majok and other children like him. She said.

What you can do:

  • Take Action
  • Spread the word out
  • Join Mission trips to Africa
  • Do more
